About Ames Lake Water Association (ALWA)

Ames Lake Water Association is a 501(c)12, non-profit, consumer-owned, cooperative water utility originally incorporated by 87 members in April 1969 to distribute drinking and domestic water to landowners in the vicinity of Ames Lake, Washington.

Today, ALWA is a Group A water system as defined by Washington Administrative Code (WAC), Chapter 246-290.  We produce around 90,000,000 gallons of water a year from deep, groundwater production wells.  The Association maintains over 202,000 feet (or 38 miles) of pipe and six storage tanks with a combined capacity of slightly over 1,000,000 gallons.

We currently serve over 1,100 members within our service area.

Management and Operations

A seven-member Board of Directors, elected by the Members, governs the Association. ALWA employs a Water Operator certified by the Washington Department of Health who maintains the water system and a Business Manager who oversees day-to-day operations of the Association’s business office.

A licensed Professional Engineer and Hydrogeologist provide engineering and technical services. An Attorney at Law provides legal counsel, and a Certified Public Accounting firm performs an independent audit of the ALWA annually.

The Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Association’s Office and Operations building.
